New YAHOO MAIL Review – Why I hate the new YAHOO MAIL

I hate the new Yahoo mail so much that I felt the need to vent, and to warn others not to come to Yahoo because they have been screwing up their mail system for the past 6 months and now it has reached a peak of uselessness.

About me and my experience with Yahoo mail:

I have had yahoo mail accounts for about 10 years or so. I originally went with Hotmail, but they screwed it up like Yahoo has done now, with one of their updates and I find it slow, klunky and user unfriendly.

I have about 6 email accounts with yahoo for various small businesses, personal accounts, different hobbies etc.

Let me say that I have the latest Firefox (but it also did not work right with the previous 2 Firefox updates), the latest Java, the latest Flash, etc. Here are my computer specs:

Firefox 6.0.2
Vista Home Premium 64-bit; SP2;
Intel Core 2 Q8200 Quad-Core (4MB L2 cache,2.33GHz,1333FSB);
6GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz – 4 DIMMs;
750GB – 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache;
ATI Radeon HD3650 256MB Graphics

Clearly this is not an issue with my computer or my software. And let me point out that I do have an account with Hotmail and with Google Mail and those work just fine, even though I preferred Yahoo when it used to work.

So why do I hate  the new Yahoo Mail so much? It just doesn’t work right.

When I click on an email and read it, then click on a link within that email, and then come back to my email, that email is no longer readable until I go back to my Inbox, and click it again. Yes, it’s THAT stupid. The page is just blank after I have clicked on the link. This is the All New Yahoo Mail! GREAT isn’t it??

This is just one of many many similar issues that show that the new Yahoo mail just has not been engineered and developed and tested properly.

Sometimes when I edit an email in my Contact list, and save it, it just hangs on the Saving until I finally just click off the Saving page, and so I cannot save it.

Sometimes when I click on an email to delete it, it takes 5 seconds or so to delete, whereas it used to be instantaneous. Similarly, it used to go from one folder to another very quickly, now it often hangs or doesn’t open for several seconds or sometimes longer.

I could go on and on. Basically I can make it real short and to the point:

THE NEW YAHOO MAIL JUST PLAIN DOES NOT WORK WELL. They have ruined it.

And now, because of their ruining it, I am going to have to move all my accounts to another mail service, and spend hours sending myself emails that I have saved, from Yahoo to my new email accounts. Instead of Yahoo making my life better with a new mail program that offers more convenience and better features, they have made my life much more complicated by forcing me to move my business to another service.

So yeah, I am pissed. I hate Yahoo now. I will tell everyone NOT to use Yahoo mail. I will no longer use Yahoo for ANYthing unless I have to.

I used to use Yahoo to advertise some of my small businesses. But I found that the response from ads on their search engine pages was useless. Google took over and I used the same ads on Google and got a very good response.

So Yahoo blew it with their search engine, and now they’re blowing it with their mail, so I have no use for them at all any more.

I would say I hope Yahoo goes out of business but I hate to see people lose their jobs. I do hope that those responsible for the NEW YAHOO MAIL do get fired though because they are obviously incompetent and inept and it would be better to give that job to some unemployed person who could have done it right.

Goodbye Yahoo. You suck.

p.s. I’d like to hear from people who have a good mail service, one that allows plenty of saved mail, the ability to create folders, one that is quick and easy, web-based, has good spam control and so on. I don’t like hotmail nor google. Google is too privacy-invasive in general and I don’t trust them with my mail. Hotmail is clunky. Any other suggestions? I’m willing to pay a small fee but I need about 6 different addresses so I can’t pay very much.
